This tour is one of the most exciting and spectacular adventure journey in Vietnam. Because the northwest is still unspoiled and is a captivating blend of dramatic landscapes and colorful hill tribes. This adventure takes you through a stunning and isolated area, which has changed little over the centuries. Also through the trip you will understand more about Vietnamese history during French war time in Vietnam.
Our guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel around 7:30am. Then we will take a 4 hour drive heading southwest of Hanoi to Mai Chau. The amazing drive through a spectacular mountain range. This is an authentic hill tribe region and a fantastic base for treks and homestay soft adventures. The typical houses you see here are house on stilt with elevated 10–12 feet off the ground. Because to avoid water damage and shelter animals from the elements. The spectacular views of the mountains and stunning valleys will make our journey today worthwhile. En route you will stop to visit Mai Chau market, it’s a great chance to take plenty of great photos of the spectacular mountains and green valley.
Upon arrival you check into the most luxury accommodation in Mai Chau. It’s Mai Chau Lodge, rest and perhaps relax by the swimming pool. But alternatively, you can stay at a local home where you will be provided clean bedding and a delicious authentic local dinner.
The afternoon is free for you to explore the surrounding villages on foot, meet the local people and learn about their lives raising crops and livestock. Perhaps you ma join in a traditional dance performed by the local artists? This is one of the most interesting activities for all visitor come here. But dance performance is not included and at your own choice.
After breakfast at hotel or homestay. Then we will depart Mai Chau and embark on a 2-hour drive towards Moc Chau Highland, located at Son La province, approximately 180 km North West from Hanoi. Moc Chau Plateau blessed with a wide variety of nature beauty, gifted with boundless meadow for an unlimited source of fresh milk. Before arrival you will visit one of the Tea plantations, where you find the best green tea in Vietnam grown along the roads on hillsides. We arrive at local host for lunch at a local family.
After enjoy lunch our trip continue to visit Ang village, Pine forest and Dai Yem waterfall and Hang Doi (Bat Cave). Leave Moc Chau for another two hour drive to Mai Son town. Arrive at Mai Son and check into a local family.
Tonight the host will cook a delicious dinner for you. They will take you to their garden to pick fresh vegetables and show you to select the best chicken for our meal. Watch they cooking while enjoying some cold beers. Enjoy dinner with the family and stay for the night.
After breakfast, take a photo with the local host then say goodbye to them. Then we continue our wonderful journey to Dien Bien. It will take around 4 hour drive. En route you stop in Son La City to visit Son La’s Old Prison & Museum, was formerly a French penal colony where anticolonial revolutionaries were incarcerated. Continue to drive towards Dien Bien Phu with lunch in Tuan Giao Town.
After lunch you drive over the “Zigzag Pha Din pass”. It’s one of the most beautiful passes in Vietnam before reach Dien Bien Phu, the former battlefields where the French, after nearly 100 years of colonization and nine years of war, were defeated in 1954 by the Viet Minh, lead by Ho Chi Minh president.
Check into hotel then head out for a guided tour of the historical relics. Where we will visit the underground hideout of French General De Castries, Muong Thanh historical bridge and Nam Rom River. Stop to take some photos at Dien Bien Phu victory monument, A1 cemetery and A1 Hill Battlefield before getting back to the hotel. Dinner and free as your leisure.
After breakfast at the hotel we will continue to tour of the historical relics of Dien Bien Phu including the campaign headquarter of Vietnamese soldiers, tunnel of Chief Hoang Van Thai, working tunnel and shack of General Vo Nguyen Giap, and areas in Muong Phang where Vietnamese army stationed and also the Dien Bien Museum.
Tour ends at the hotel at mid-afternoon after lunch at local food stall. Free to do some fun shopping at Muong Thanh Market.
After breafast at the hotel. This morning you leave Dien Bien Phu for return Hanoi city. Spend almost 10 hours on car for back Hanoi city (Optional: you can take flight back Hanoi with additional charge for airticket).
